I’m excited to share a new project I’ve been working on — a simple web app that evaluates your pronunciation in real time. As a one-man company, I take pride in every step of my projects, and this one is particularly close to my heart.
What It Does
This app displays a word on the screen and gives you the chance to record a short, 3‑second clip of yourself saying it. Once you’ve recorded your clip, the app processes your audio and instantly displays:
- Your Pronunciation Score: A measure of how closely your spoken word matches the ideal pronunciation.
- Confidence Level: An indicator of how reliable the evaluation is.
There are no logins, ads, or distractions — just a straightforward tool designed to give you immediate feedback on your pronunciation.
How It Works
- Display: A word is shown for you to practice.
- Record: Press the record button and speak for 3 seconds.
- Evaluate: My backend processes your recording using advanced speech analysis.
- Feedback: Your result, along with a confidence metric, is displayed right away.
I designed this process to be as simple and quick as possible so you can focus solely on perfecting your pronunciation.
Why I Built It
I’ve noticed that clear pronunciation is a common challenge for many English learners, and discussions in communities like r/learnenglishonline have shown me there’s a real need for accessible pronunciation feedback. I built this tool to offer an immediate, hassle-free way to check your pronunciation—helping you build confidence and improve more rapidly.
What’s Next?
This version is a minimal prototype, and I’m already thinking about future improvements, including:
- Daily Challenges & Streaks: To help you build a habit of daily practice.
- Progress Tracking: So you can see how your pronunciation improves over time.
- Leaderboards: For a bit of friendly competition.
- Extended Practice Options: Possibly a subscription model for those who want more than the free daily tests.
